GSMA M360 LATAM Champions Connectivity, Inclusion, and Future of Mobile Technology in Latin America

The two-day event features thought leadership and strategic discussions driving the future of digital services

28 May 2025, Mexico CityGSMA M360 LATAM returns to Mexico City today, bringing together business leaders and innovators from across the mobile and technology ecosystem to explore the pressing trends shaping the digital economy and accelerating the region’s socio-economic growth. Also published today, the Mobile Economy Latin America 2025 report shows mobile technologies and services will contribute $680 billion to the region’s GDP by 2030, driven largely by increased 5G adoption and enterprise digitalisation.

This year’s edition spotlights how real-life applications of AI, 5G, and emerging technologies are being used to optimise networks, deliver new enterprise services, and bridge digital gaps. Co-located with M360 LATAM, the Latin American Congress on Digital Transformation (CLTD), organised by ASIET, the GSMA, and the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB),will focus on the policy side of digital transformation, exploring the public actions and regulations needed to support the region’s digital (r)evolution.

Lara Dewar, Chief Marketing Officer at the GSMA, said: “M360 LATAM is where leadership, technology, and vision converge to shape Latin America’s digital future. With AI and 5G redefining how people connect, how businesses scale, and how services are delivered, this event is a catalyst for real change and economic growth. It’s an exciting time for the region, and I’m proud to see the community come together to inspire and accelerate progress.”

Presented during the event’s opening keynote, M360 LATAM Awards 2025 returned this year to celebrate individuals and organisations across Latin America driving meaningful progress through mobile technology. Brazil’s National Telecommunications Agency (Anatel) took home both top honours. Its ‘Amazônia Integrada e Sustentável’ programme was recognised by an expert jury with the Latin America Social Impact Award. Meanwhile, Anatel’s President, Carlos Baigorri, earned the Industry Champion Award for his visionary leadership and proactive drive on key sector challenge.

Also on day 1 of M360 LATAM, operators Altán Redes, América Móvil, AT&T Mexico andTelefónica Mexico will announce the launch of GSMA Open Gateway in the country. This GSMA-led initiative, launched in 2023, gives developers access to mobile networks via universal APIs, empowering developers and businesses to create new digital services with improved user experiences.

5G and AI leading the next wave of connectivity

The Mobile Economy Latin America 2025 report underlines the mobile sector’s central role in driving economic growth, innovation, and inclusion. As operators scale up investment in 5G and enterprise solutions, the region is seeing a shift toward advanced, AI-powered networks and smarter digital infrastructure.

Key findings from this year’s report include:

  • Mobile’s contribution to regional GDP is forecast to reach $680 billion by 2030, equivalent to 8.6% of GDP, up from $550 billion in 2024.
  • Latin America is expected to surpass 400 million 5G connections by 2030, with 5G accounting for more than half (53%) of all mobile connections.
  • The region’s mobile internet penetration is on track to reach nearly 75% of the population by 2030, up from 64% in 2024.
  • Despite broad network coverage, more than a third of Latin America’s population remains offline, highlighting the need to address affordability, digital skills, and inclusion to close the usage gap.
  • Mobile data traffic is projected to triple by the end of the decade, driven by video consumption and emerging AI-enabled services.
  • Operators are investing nearly $90 billion in network infrastructure between 2024 and 2030, enabling more resilient, inclusive digital economies.
