Gisela Garcia-Alvarez is a biochemist by training and a global health connector by practice, with over 15 years of experience in health systems research, cluster development and cross-border health innovation across Europe and Asia.
She played a founding role in launching Singapore’s first health and life sciences cluster in 2010, combining that work with research and teaching activities. From mid-2016 to early 2024, she served as Managing Director of the Galician Health Cluster (CSG) in Spain, leading an eight-year international expansion strategy, building high-value services, attracting public funding, and establishing ITGALL, the first Galician social care living lab network. She also served as Galician Ecosystem Coordinator and later on as Global Health Connector Ambassador for Singapore.
Gisela is currently Executive Director of GHC-APAC, headquartered in Singapore. She leads GHC's Asia-Pacific operations - connecting health innovators, institutions and investors across ASEAN, Greater China, India and ANZ with GHC's global network spanning 78 countries and 90+ health ecosystems. She coordinates the GHC Singapore Ecosystem and oversees GHC-APAC’s engagement with Singapore's national research, clinical and innovation infrastructure, including institutions active in RIE2030, precision medicine, healthy ageing, and cross-border R&D.
