Speaker Bio

Assoc. Prof. Dr Azlan Helmy Abd Samat is a Consultant Emergency Physician, Clinical Researcher, and Assistant Dean (Entrepreneurship) at the Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM). He graduated from University College Dublin and completed specialist training in Emergency Medicine at UKM before earning a DPhil in Cardiovascular Medicine from the University of Oxford. His research focuses on cardiovascular emergencies, electrocardiography, cardiac imaging, artificial intelligence (AI), extended reality (XR), and digital medical education. He leads AI-driven initiatives to enhance ECG interpretation, clinical decision-making, and immersive simulation for healthcare training. He has contributed to major international studies, including PHOSP-COVID and IMPROVE-HCM, and is committed to translating AI-enabled innovation into better emergency care, clinician education, and patient outcomes.
