Speaker Bio

Murtaza is the President of JazzCash, Pakistan’s largest fintech platform with over 48m customers. JazzCash is a joint venture between the country’s leading digital operator, Jazz, and Mobilink Microfinance Bank. It’s also part of VEON Group, a digital operator that provides converged connectivity and digital services in six countries.


Murtaza has been associated with JazzCash in leadership roles since 2019 and has also served on the board of Mobilink Microfinance Bank earlier. He possesses a wealth of experience in Mergers & Acquisitions, Corporate Governance, Business Strategy, and Finance Operations, having spent over 25 years in various roles within financial services and telecommunication sectors.


Previously, he served as CFO of Telenor Microfinance Bank and facilitated its merger with ANT Financials. He helped drive unprecedented growth in the loan and deposit portfolio and transformed the customer journey through digitalization. Murtaza demonstrated the ability to transform businesses and organizations to deliver superior results. He is passionate about bringing digital financial services to every Pakistani, including youth, women, MSMEs, freelancers, with a very strong focus on the unbanked and the underbanked.


Murtaza is credited with further cementing JazzCash’s leadership position in the fintech sector, boosting financial inclusion through innovative and customer-centric products. He is a Chartered Accountant and have completed executive leadership programs at prestigious institutions including the Stockholm School of Economics, Norwegian Business School, IMD, and London Business School. He started his career at Ernst & Young Pakistan, a global leader in assurance, tax, transaction and advisory service.
