Associate Professor Dr. Adli Azam Mohammad Razi is a Consultant Cardiothoracic Surgeon at Gleneagles Hospital Johor and an Associate Professor of Cardiothoracic Surgery at the Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM).
He graduated with his medical degree in 2001 and began his career with the Ministry of Health Malaysia before joining UiTM in 2005. He obtained his Master of Surgery (General Surgery) from the University of Malaya in 2009, followed by advanced subspecialty training in Cardiothoracic Surgery. He further specialised in Minimally Invasive Thoracic Surgery through fellowship training at Seoul National University Bundang Hospital, South Korea.
Associate Professor Dr. Adli Azam Mohammad Razi was among the pioneer surgeons who established the Cardiothoracic Surgery Service at UiTM in 2013 and has played an important role in advancing the specialty in Malaysia.
He provides comprehensive care for patients with heart and lung diseases, with special expertise in minimally invasive thoracic surgery, lung cancer surgery, minimally invasive cardiac surgery, coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), heart valve surgery, and robotic-assisted cardiothoracic surgery.
Recognised as one of Malaysia's pioneers in robotic cardiothoracic surgery, he became the first surgeon in the country to perform robotic thoracic surgery in 2018. More recently, he performed Malaysia's first robotic left internal mammary artery (LIMA) harvesting for minimally invasive CABG, representing another milestone in the development of robotic cardiac surgery in the region.
His commitment extends beyond clinical practice. He is actively involved in national lung cancer initiatives and is a contributing author of the Malaysian Expert Consensus on the screening, diagnosis, staging, multimodal management, and surveillance of early-stage resectable non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC).
Associate Professor Dr. Adli Azam Mohammad Razi is dedicated to surgical education and regularly serves as faculty and invited speaker at local, regional, and international scientific meetings, where he lectures on minimally invasive and robotic cardiothoracic surgery. He also serves on the Malaysian Board of Cardiothoracic Surgery (MBCTS) and the Malaysian Association for Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery (MATCVS), and is a founding member of the South East Asia Thoracic Society (SEATS).
Through innovation, research, education, and compassionate patient care, he remains committed to advancing cardiothoracic surgery while helping patients achieve the best possible outcomes using modern, minimally invasive techniques.
