Session Description
Non-Terrestrial Networks (NTN) are entering a new phase of maturity as satellite connectivity evolves from technology trials to early commercial deployment. Across Asia-Pacific, operators, satellite providers, policymakers and technology partners are increasingly viewing NTN as a strategic extension of terrestrial mobile networks, helping expand coverage, strengthen network resilience and enable new connectivity opportunities across consumer, enterprise and IoT markets.
As hybrid terrestrial-satellite architectures begin to emerge, industry leaders are navigating important questions around commercial viability, spectrum policy, ecosystem readiness and long-term investment priorities. While Direct-to-Device (D2D) services are gaining momentum, widespread adoption will depend on advances in devices, chipsets, standards, and integration into existing mobile networks.
This session will explore how the industry is moving from proof-of-concept to commercial reality, examining the opportunities and challenges shaping NTN deployment across the region. Topics will include hybrid network architectures, 3GPP standardisation, spectrum policy and regulatory developments, roaming and interoperability, device readiness, and the partnerships required across mobile, satellite and technology ecosystems.
Bringing together mobile operators, satellite providers, equipment vendors, policymakers and experts, the discussion will examine how industry collaboration can accelerate commercial deployment while creating a supportive regulatory environment that enables innovation and investment across Asia-Pacific.
Summit Agenda:
11:45 - 11:55
Welcome & Setting the Scene
Opening remarks will set the context for the rapid evolution of Non-Terrestrial Networks, highlighting the market drivers, ecosystem developments and policy priorities shaping NTN deployment across Asia-Pacific.
11:55 - 12:05
Industry Perspective
A keynote industry presentation exploring how satellite innovation is supporting the commercial evolution of NTN and the role of technology in enabling scalable, standards-based hybrid connectivity.
12:05 - 12:20
Fireside chat: Regulatory Preparedness for Satellite Services
What does it mean to be ‘regulatory ready’ for the next generation of satellite services? This conversation will bring together regulatory perspectives needed to support the evolution of LEO satellite communications that foster innovation, protect consumers, and support sustainable investment.
12:20 - 12:55
Panel Discussion: Direct-to-Device - Scaling the Next Generation of Connectivity
Direct-to-Device (D2D) is rapidly becoming one of the most significant commercial opportunities for Non-Terrestrial Networks. Bringing together mobile operators, satellite providers and technology leaders, this panel will examine the practical realities of delivering D2D services at scale, including commercial models, spectrum considerations, device and chipset readiness, interoperability, roaming and the partnerships required to integrate satellite seamlessly into existing mobile networks.
12:55 - 13:00
Closing Remarks
The session concludes with key takeaways and priorities for accelerating NTN commercialisation and strengthening collaboration across the mobile and satellite ecosystem.
